Penngood and Westat are supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by holding a talent search for individuals to be featured in a new national social marketing campaign to encourage HIV testing. It is part of the Act Against AIDS initiative and is slatedCDC-Article4
to launch later this year with television, radio, digital and print advertisements. Additional campaign components include a campaign website, local community events, and interactive social media aspects.

They are looking for real people to volunteer to participate in a photo shoot as spokespersons of the campaign. who test regularly and would be willing to appear on campaign ads.

Who They are Looking For

They are looking to recruit a diverse group of men, women, and transgender who are:

  • Between the ages of 18 and 64
  • Have a personal story to share about why they test regularly for HIV
  • Comfortable appearing on camera
  • Comfortable having their image used in an HIV/AIDS testing campaign that will be promoted nationwide and online
  • Available to participate in a one-day photo/video shoot (6-8 hours), tentatively scheduled for mid- to late-summer

Interested individuals, couples, and groups can send an email to CDCphotoshoot@westat.com no later than June 1 to express interest. The email should include:

  • name and contact information
  • age range (18-35 years; 35+ years)
  • current city/location
  • sex or current gender
  • 2 photos
    • 1 recent full body photo
    • 1 recent close-up photo
  • 2-3 sentences on why they test for HIV
  • Are they comfortable being featured in ads for a national HIV testing campaign that will promoted nationwide and online?

Campaign staff will choose spokespersons in the coming months and invite them to participate in photo shoots tentatively scheduled for July. The photos will be used in promotional ads for the campaign. Volunteers who are chosen will receive travel compensation and per diem.
