What's Happening Central Florida

Hey guys! October is turning out to be the most exciting month for Pride in Central Florida after June. In this issue you’ll get to read about three Pride parades that are coming up. Save the date for Sarasota Pride; it will be on Saturday at J.D. Hamel Park. Also save the date for Ocala Pride; it’s also on Saturday and will be held at Citizens’ Circle. Finally, next Saturday is Gainesville‘s big pride parade and festival. Be loud and proud in Gator Country and walk in the parade as it goes down University Avenue and Main Street! Whether it’s Pride weekend in your city or not, be proud every day. Lots of love to you all!

Friday October 17

I love a good drag show, and Bradley’s on 7th in Tampa draws in the crowds and delivers a great show every time. Tonight, the First Lady of Ybor City, Joey Brooks, welcomes Esme Russell and special guest Apple Love to the stage. Tomorrow night, Joey performs with Josephine Andrews and Dulce Andrews. I love every single one of these performers! Shows on both nights start at 11:30 and 1:15, and remember, Bradley’s never charges cover!

Parliament HouseSpeaking of drag, BenDeLaCreme from RuPaul’s Drag Race season six is dropping by Parliament House in Orlando for two high-energy shows! He will be performing with the acclaimed Footlight Players, headed by Darcel Stevens, at 10 p.m. and midnight. Both shows will be in the Footlight Theatre. There’s no cover until 11 p.m.! Music by DJ Scott Robert.

Saturday October 18

Have you seen Leigh Shannon’s Cabaret Dinner Show at Hamburger Mary’s Orlando? If not, you are missing out on one fun treat. Leigh Shannon has been performing to crowds across Florida and the United States for over 35 years now and she has truly perfected the art of female impersonation. See her with Page King and two special guests tonight! Seating is at 7:30 for the show at 8:30. Call ahead to reserve your table because Leigh always performs to sold out crowds! (321) 319-0600

Bear Night at Stonewall BarIt’s bear night at Stonewall Bar Orlando! Bears, cubs, chubs, chasers, otters, everyone is welcome! The Orlando City Bear Club sponsors this fun night out, and if you’re interested in buying some gear from them, it’s available for purchase at the door. DJ Skinner is in charge of music and Taylor is your bartender tonight! All this fun starts at 10 p.m. and goes on all night long!

Flamingo Resort in St. Petersburg is celebrating Halloween a little early with a scary fun Monster Mash party! There will be a costume contest, drag shows at 11 p.m. and midnight (headed by the new Flamingo hostess, Sassy Devine!), and sexy “vampire dancers“! Master that Thriller dance and get on down here for a fun time at the Flamingo.

Power Infiniti‘s”Kingdom” night returns to Liquid Tampa for another month with another internationally-known DJ and producer. Coming all the way from Chicago, Cindel Coss will be spinning all night! Liquid’s house DJ, Greg Anderson, will perform the opening set. There will be a special performance by Power Infiniti as well, and the whole evening is hosted by Liquid’s mistress of ceremonies, Conundrum. Free entry before 10 p.m., $5 cover afterwards.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE…

Bear Bust Weekend at the Parliament HouseNow wait just a minute…did you hear that Parliament House is hosting the Bear Bust Weekend for another year? This is the 24th year the Bear Bust has been bringing crowds of sexy hairy men to Orlando, and Parliament House is hosting some fun events!

On Thursday there’s the Bear Olympics with Gidget Galore; on Friday there’s a vendor fair and a Mr. Perky Butt contest (sounds like my kind of contest!); and on Saturday there’s a tea dance, a Nasty Pig jockstrap auction hosted by the Orlando Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and the Mr. Bear Bust pageant. Also, the comedy show My Big Funny Peter will be playing on Friday and Saturday nights. Sounds like fun! For more information, visit bearbust.org and parliamenthouse.com.
