Dixie's Tupperware Party

Dixie's Tupperware Party

Shooting into Central Florida straight from the trailer parks of Mobile, Alabama is Dixie Longate, and she’s got some Tupperware to sell you! This fast-talking, energetic saleslady is here to educate and entertain in the stage show “Dixie’s Tupperware Party.” This show, which debuted Off-Broadway and won a Drama Desk Award, is coming to the Jaeb Theater at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts (1010 N. MacInnes Place, Tampa). Dixie and her Tupperware are in town from Wednesday, October 15 through Sunday, October 19.

Dixie Longate is the female persona of comedian and writer Kris Andersson. In his six years touring the country, Andersson (as Dixie) has reached peak Tupperware sales in excess of $250,000 in one year, becoming a member of the “#1 Tupperware Seller in the World Club.”

As the story goes, Dixie Longate, a seller of Tupperware for “the past 13 years,” left her three children (one of whom is named Absorbine, Jr.) back in an Alabama trailer park while she chose to extol the virtues of Tupperware to audiences far and wide. As Dixie will be quick to tell you, she was the #2 seller of Tupperware at the annual Jubilee. She’ll also be quick to let you know that the top seller only earned the title because she hawked her wares on the Internet. How impersonal! At Dixie’s Tupperware Party, she showcases many funny anecdotes, free giveaways, lots of audience participation, and of course the newest line of Tupperware products!

Tickets for Dixie’s Tupperware Party are available now and start at $37.50. Showtimes for Dixie’s Tupperware Party at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts are as follows: Wednesday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 18 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, October 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Straz Center Box Office by visiting strazcenter.org or by calling (813) 229-7827.
