RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 – It’s Down to the Final 3!
– Alexis Mateo, Manila Luzon & Raja.

For all you Drag Race fanatics like me you know it’s down to the final 3; the Puerto Rican Princess who resides right here in Florida, Alexis Mateo, the Glamorous talents of Manilla Luzon, and the Creativeness of the girl who commands the runway, Raja. Although all 3 know who the winner is, I have asked them to put themselves back in time a few months, when the series was being taped, and tell us why they think they should win as they are standing in the top 3? In alphabetical order (you gotta be fair) the responses are:

ALEXIS

This competition has show me to have fun in drag. NO RULES – just to use my imagination and enjoy the spotlight. I should be “America’s Next Drag Superstar” because I’m the only one who is a performer ñ a drag queen. Some of this girls get caught on the fashion and the look. As a true drag queen, I want to perform and entertain the audience. It was my passion since I was little. I love the fantasy of drag, the over-the-top costumes, the dancing, the give-it-all-performance and the one-on-one contact with the people. I will be the best I can be always because I love drag, the stage and my fans. To all my Latin fans: Gracias por el apollo que me han dado en el transcurso de esta competencia, como emigrante a veces la gente no te considera latino, Pero yo soy latino 100% orgulloso de mis raises, Puertorriqueno con sangre Espanola, negra y Taina en mis venas y con el fuego de representar mi cultura con Fuerza y amor… Viva los Latinos!

MANILA

Looking back at the moment when I was declared as the first person in the top three, I was ecstatic! I had just won my second main challenge in a row! I immediately thought of the chances of me winning three times in a row was very difficult, but I knew I had what it takes to win the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” I am a combination of many genres of drag mixed into one: glamour drag, a bit club kid, part pageant queen, teeny bit sex vixen and a ton of Camp! I knew my aesthetic was on point and my personality was just the right mixture of coy, goofball, sassy and funny. I have a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. I wanted to represent the product of a loving and supportive family. My family may not fully understand my life as a drag queen, but their unconditional love for me has made me feel the power to be myself. I hope that people watching me surround themselves with people who want only the best for them so they can be the best they can be. Believing all this, I went into this competition set on making it all the way to the end; not because I HAD to win, but because I wanted to have the opportunity to participate in every challenge presented to us. This competition challenged me with things that I never thought I would ever do in my life, let alone in drag! But don’t get me wrong, the moment I made top three I started imaging all the amazing shoes I could buy with $75,000!

RAJA

I felt like it was so close, as if you could just reach out and grab it. I felt a sigh of relief in knowing I was able to go so far and proud that I could test my own limits. I knew that my exposure in the competition could be a great influence to those who only see drag in one light. Most of all, I felt that whatever the outcome, I would want to leave a legacy to so many aspiring and budding artists. Glad it’s over now, but I’d probably relive it if given the chance to go on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

They are all talented, and my fellow RuPaul junkies and I argue about it, but I am hoping (crossing my fingers) that Raja wins.
